Committee Head Responsibilities
Athletics Committee
- To make a male and female selection for Athlete of the Month to be announced at
assemblies
- To keep an updated schedule of all sporting events in a public accessible area
- To keep open communication with all athletics advisors and coaches
- To produce a list of financial requirements and requests from all sports teams for the
purpose of creating a school budget
- To make sure all announcements pertaining to sports related events are in the daily
announcements
Drama and Arts Committee
- To maintain artist of the month selections to be announced at assemblies
- Keep an updated schedule of all arts related events in a publicly accessible area
- To keep open communication with all directors, producers, art coordinators,
music faculty, or other figure head of the arts
- To produce a list of financial requirements and requests from all arts clubs and
productions for the purpose of creating a school budget
- To make sure all announcements pertaining to arts related events are in the daily
announcements
Social Committee
- To work with the Vice President in organizing all dances except Cabaret and Prom
- To organize a quick and effective cleanup before and after all dances
- To maintain a coat check during dances, which is to be open and supervised at all times
- To attain sufficient chaperones for all dances
- To oversee any other Saint John High School social event other than a special event
Spirit Committee
- To maintain a strong and thriving spirit in all school activities
- To be present at all school assemblies and lead school cheers and other forms of spirit
- To select student or "greyhound" of the month based upon academic, extra curricular, or
other achievement made by a strong individual within the school
- To enforce the knowledge of all school cheers among new students
- To oversee a "loud crowd" should the interest be shown, that is, a group of students
which will attend school sporting events for the purpose of representing Saint John High School's
spirit
House Committee
- To organize teacher chaperones, ushers, and ticket salespeople for any productions
in the auditorium or mini-theatre
- To work with the production crew of a show in organization volunteers
- To maintain the auditorium after any event by organizing a mild cleanup which may
involve putting away chairs, picking up loose garbage, etc.
- To oversee the use of the auditorium for any purpose
Special Events
- To organize the Christmas Bazaar
- To work with the Vice President in organizing the Cabaret in the same manner as the social
committee would a regular dance
- To oversee the execution and implementation of all event weeks
- To implement and organize all variety shows or "Battle of the Bands" events, which
includes working with the house committee and acquiring sufficient chaperones
Marketing Committee
- To maintain a canteen at all school dances and any other social or special event where
refreshment is required on behalf of the SRC
- To oversee the selection, design, purchase, and sales of all school clothing or
merchandise of that nature
- To oversee the sales of any merchandise on behalf of the SRC to the student body
- To organize a lunchtime canteen should there be an interest shown
Promotions Committee
- To maintain open communication with all committees requiring the promotion of a certain
event
- To produce posters to advertise all school activities
- To oversee any promotional stunts for the purpose of advertising an event
- To remove posters, banners, or other means of advertisement once the advertised event has
terminated
- To make widely known the dates of any spirit and "red and grey days" to the student
body
