Advanced Placement Program
Saint John High has offered classes from the Advanced Placement Program since 1995. Our students can challenge themselves by taking these enriched level courses in English Literature and Composition, European History and Psychology.
Students begin preparing for these courses through level one classes in grades 10 and 11. The courses culminate in the grade 12 year with external exams from AP which are graded on a 5 point scale. Completing the AP exam will provide students with an AP mark separate from the Saint John High class mark. That AP grade can then be transferred to many universities that offer credit hours to students attaining a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam.
Possible university credit is only one advantage to taking these advanced level classes. Other benefits include the strong foundation in the subject with allows students to be successful in future study and the stimulation of being in a challenging academic environment.
Any questions regarding our AP classes can be directed to our AP / IB Coordinator, Tracy Lutz.
