Girls Softball - "NBIAA Silver Medalists"

by Mr. Jim McNiven - Thursday, October 16, 2008

The Greyhound girls softball team, lead by the arm of pitcher Amy Shannon and the couragous effort of injured 3rd baseman Justine Jarvis, won the Silver medal at the NBIAA Softball Tournament in Fredericton over the weekend.

After defeating the team from Ecole Marie-Esther 13-4 in the semi-finals, the girls advanced to the final against St. Malachy's. In that semi-final game, Amy Shannon pitched a complete game win, while getting help at the plate from hitters Erin Freeze, Keisha Norwood, and Krystie Perry. In the final, the Greyhounds only gave up three (3) runs in the first inning, and then shut the Saints down the remainder of the game. Final score was 3-0. Again, Amy Shannon pitched well, only giving up six hits in pitching another complete game for the Greyhounds.

Congrats to the entire team, finishing the year with an 11-3 record. Well done, Greyhounds!
