SJHS competes in business simulation

Should we invest in more advertising, or should we buy more comfortable seats? Should we show a movie that is popular, or one that has good reviews? Should we spend money on training staff or lower the prices of movie tickets? These are some of the questions that the two teams from Saint John High School were faced with as they competed against other high schools from NB and PEI in UNBSJ's annual OREO Business Competition.
The game put students in the position of a business tycoon and simulated the construction of a media empire. At the end of the day, the team that accumulated the most profit, and gave the best presentation, won the game. Our teams walked away with tons of prizes, and learned lots about taking risks and understanding and using financial information. We also won the prestigious "best dressed team" for the third year in a row.
Lots of fun was had, and a special thank you goes to the UNBSJ for all of the hard work that they did in organizing the event.
