SJHS student to attend International Science Fair

by Ms Debbie Garland - Saturday, June 13, 2009

Saint John High School student, Benjamin Knight, will be representing Canada at an International Science Fair in Tunis, Tunisia in July 23-28, 2009.

Ben, an International Baccalaureate diploma candidate at Saint John High School, was the Regional Science Fair winner for his project "An investigation into Road Salt Levels in Saint John Wetland Soil".

The Tunisia, Non-competitive International Science Fair is organized by the International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology (MILSET). MILSET was set up in 1987, during the first International Expo-Sciences (ESI) held in Quebec. Its mission is to foster the development of scientific and technical activities for young people and children and to motivate young people to get interested in science. MILSET is a consultative member of the ECOSOC Commission of the United Nations, as well as a member of UNESCO, UNICEF, ISESCO, ALECSO and the European Commission.

This will be an exciting trip for Ben and we congratulate him.
