IB History Students Enjoy an Educational Supper
by Andrew Toner - Saturday, November 2, 2013
On October 11th, 8 of our Greyhounds (Mr. Theobald and 7 IB History students) were invited to attend a fundraising luncheon at the Delta Brunswick hosted by the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum. This event raised money for the Saint John Jewish Historical Fund, dedicated to promoting study, research, and history of the Saint John Jewish Community, and remembrance of the Holocaust and its impact on our world today. These students were lucky enough to hear from guest speaker Sir Andrew Burns, the former British High Commissioner of Canada, who leads the government's work on post-Holocaust initiatives. He also focuses on the restitution of art and property of victims of the Holocaust. Overall, the students enjoyed the luncheon and the opportunity it presented to gain a different perspective not only on the Holocaust, but also how to insure that its atrocities are never forgotten and never repeated.
