Swim Teams Place Second at NBIAA Regionals

The Greyhound swim teams squared off against provincial powerhouse Fredericton High at the 2013 NBIAA South-West Regionals held in Oromocto Saturday Nov 30th.

Forty athletes left SJHS at 6am for the Bus Ride to the Gagetown Pool. Thirty nine athletes qualified in individual events for the NBIAA championships to be hosted by SJHS at the Canada Games Aquatic Center Saturday December 14th.

FHS accumulated 412 points for top place with SJHS in a close second at 399 points. Leo Hayes placed third with 135 points in the 13 school competition. The top six athletes in each event qualified for the NBIAA championship meet.

The following athletes won their individual races: Isabelle Nickerson (Junior Girls 50 & 100 Breaststroke); Emilee Hoellwarth (Junior Girls 50 Backstroke); Gregor Sullivan (Junior Boys 50 Backstroke); Janelle Holt (Junior Girls 100 IM & 50 Free); Morgan Easton (Senior Girls 50 Breaststroke)

Saint John High won gold in the Junior Girls Division 4x50 Medley & 4x50 Free Relays with team members Emily Whitcomb, Isabelle Nickerson, Emilee Hoellwarth and Janelle Holt. SJHS Senior Girls and Senior Boys each won their 4x50 Medley, 4x50 Free and 4x100 Free Relays.

NBIAA Provincials: The SJHS team are hosting the provincials. We are looking for 18+ volunteers for timing (10am-4pm), 8 volunteers for admissions + program-sales + hospitality, plus 6-8 Volunteer Parents with SwimCanada certification for officiating. The team is also looking for donations of food and beverages to feed and hydrate our volunteers and visiting coaches.
