SJHS Swimming Community Plays Host to a FANTASTIC 2014 NBIAA Swim Championship

by C Sullivan - Sunday, December 14, 2014

24 Volunteer lane timers. 14 Volunteer Swim-NB Officials. 10 hospitality hosts. 50 Coaches. 25 NB High School Teams. Numerous Parents and Friends of SJHS Swimming. Several Corporate Sponsors. 1 Highly Succesful NBIAA Swimming Championship.

Thanks to the efforts of those above, Patti & Bill Macmackin stepped in three weeks ago to save NBIAA swimming from losing its 2014 signature event, the Provincial Championship meet, from cancellation.

The Canada Games Aquatic Center was packed with over 250 student athletes from NB high schools for seven hours of spirited and sportsmanlike competition on Saturday December 13th. Saint John hosted the Provincial Championship meet for the seventh time in the past eight years.

Kudos to all that stepped up to ensure that the event happened; from NBIAA representatives to Regional Conference meet managers. Additional thanks to the Southern Conference schools that provided volunteers. Much appreciation to Vito's and Saputo for their assistance in nourishing those volunteers. And thanks to the student-athletes who put on the weekends Real Show: the Swimming.
