Silent Auction Fundraiser - Gerry Collins Pastel

The Drama Club is auctioning off a piece of art by Gerry Collins. The proceeds from the sale of this pastel will go toward the SJHS Drama Club's trip to Fredericton in May to participate in Drama Fest 2015. The students have been working since September on three plays, all student written and directed. Below is a brief description of the artist.

About Gerard Collins
Artist Gerard Collins, a native of Saint John, is one of Canada's finest painters. Having studied at the St. Martin's School of Art in London, England, followed by a year of studying with Gerhard Richter in Dusseldorf, Germany, Collins completed his studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he furthered his exploration of conceptual art. Not only can his work be found in many private collections but also in many corporate ones, including the National Gallery of Canada, the New Brunswick Museum, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the University of New Brunswick, Mount St. Vincent University, and the Owens Art Gallery. Collins has served on juries for the Canada Council and has won numerous grants and awards, including the 2001 Strathbutler Award.
