Choir has a whirlwind tour of University Workshops
by Trish Gallagher - Tuesday, April 28, 2015
On April 10th - 12th, 44 members of the Saint John High School Concert choir travelled to Mount Allison, Acadia, and Dalhousie Universities where they had campus tours and a personal choral workshop with three professors who are experts in their field. The students were complimented countless times for their discipline, their enthusiasm, and the impressive repertoire they have conquered. They are singing pieces in Swahili, Latin, French, Spanish and English. The finale of the weekend was an invitation to sing at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Sackville. Although the choir is comprised of various faith traditions or no traditions, they were very respectful and represented SJHS perfectly. They sang "Elijah Rock", "The Lord Bless You and Keep You" and a piece in Swahili called "Jenga Imani" with accompaniment by Danny Han, Piano and Sadra Sarbazi, cajon.
The choir would like to thank Ms Gallagher, Ms Desmond, Ms Greene-Lui and Mr and Mrs Watt for chaperoning such an amazing weekend.
On April 28th, the Concert, Jazz and Madrigal choirs will compete in the music festival in hope of winning, once again, the coveted "Kiwanis Plaque" for highest ranking high school choir.
