Senior Girls Swimmers Victorious at Provincials

Saint John High hosted the 2015 Provincial NBIAA Swimming Championship at the Canada Games Aquatic Center on Sunday December 13th. SJHS finished second in the 26 team competition to FHS. (FHS 330 Points, SJHS 201 Points, Bathurst 72 Points, Simonds 69 Points, Tantramar 69 Points)

The Senior Girls squad won the Championship Banner squeaking past FHS 87-86. The lead flipped back and forth between the schools through-out the 13 swimming events. The SJHS girls secured the win by breaking the 20 year-old provincial records in the 4x50 Medley Relay (A Kim, I Nickerson, K Holt, E Whitcomb) and in the 4x50 Freestyle Relay (E Hoellwarth, E Whitcomb, A Kim, J Holt). Emily Whitcomb was this years senior captain and N MacNeil was the seventh member of the winning team.

Medals in the competition were picked up by Dennis Emerson (Bronze 100 Breaststroke & Gold 50 Breaststroke), Isabelle Nickerson (Silver 50 + 100 Breaststroke & Bronze 100 IM ), Victoria Ruigrok (Bronze 50 Backstroke), Angelina Kim (Silver 50 Backstroke & 100 Backstroke) Emilee Hoellwarth (Bronze 50 Backstroke), Ben Morris (Silver 100 IM), Alexander Corasaniti (Bronze 100 Backstroke), Adrien Selway (Silver 50 Freestyle).

The Junior Boys team finished second. Senior boys placed third. Junior girls placed 5th.
