The JV Boys basketball team continued their successful season winning the South West Regional Basketball Tournament this weekend at home. The Hounds progressively improved all weekend defeating Harbourview High 94-46, a great performance ,after a 2 week layoff. Top scorers for the Hounds were Jamie White with 22 and Andrew Lambert with 17. The win set the Hounds up for a semi final match up with Leo Hayes. The Hounds knew a win over the Lions guaranteed them a spot in the Provincial championship February 12-13th. Leaving nothing to chance the Hounds came out flying and defeated the Lions 90-47. Top scorers were Tanner Hoyt with 23 and Jaleel Smith dropping 15 all in the 1st quarter. The win set up a the final game to determine top seed with a formidable foe Fredericton High. The game was fast paced with lots of emotion and basketball plays. The Hounds held the charging Black Kats to win 72-71. Jamie White and Will Roderick led the way with 18 a piece.

Next weekend the Hounds will face Leo Hayes and Bernice McNaughton on Friday in round robin play at the provincials. The other division has Riverview, Fredericton and Moncton High. Saturday the Hounds hope to make it to cross overs and playoffs.

The players and coaches want to thank all the fans for coming out this past weekend to support the team. A big shout out and thank you to the JV and Senior girls basketball players who volunteered their time to work the scorers table and the the leadership class for running the door and canteen.
