Students show off their Pink
by Webstaff - Saturday, March 5, 2016
On Wednesday, 24 February students and teachers showed up to school in their best pink outfit, it was Anti Bullying Day. Wearing pink is a demonstration of support for anti bullying. Students are encouraged to have empathy and respect to help stop bullying behaviours.
Below is an excerpt from the Globe and Mail on how Pink Shirt Day began. (Please enjoy our pictures as well).
David Shepherd, Travis Price and their teenage friends organized a high-school protest to wear pink in sympathy with a Grade 9 boy who was being bullied [for wearing a pink shirt]...[They] took a stand against bullying when they protested against the harassment of a new Grade 9 student by distributing pink T-shirts to all the boys in their school.
