Remembrance Day Ceremony

by Webstaff - Saturday, November 12, 2016

Remembrance Day is a time to remember and offer thanks to those men and women who fought bravely in war. Many, sacrified their lives fighting for freedom and on November 8th, the students and staff of SJHS did just that at the Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Over 150 students from SJHS lost their lives fighting valiantly in the wars, and a very moving video created by Ms. Wood's classes, highlighted a few of those students. A special video was also made about David Greenslade who was killed in Afghanistan in 2007.

The Concert Choir and String Ensemble performed After the War, a beautiful song with lyrics written by Canadian Paul Gross.

Special thanks to Mr. McNiven, Ms. Wood, Ms. Gallagher and Mr. Davis for organizing such a wonderful ceremony and to the students who participated in the event.

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
