Greyhounds win Hockey Tournament

by Kathleen Boyle - Monday, November 21, 2016

The girls hockey team was in the Maritime Classic Fall Tournament this past weekend. They went 2-0-1 during round robin play, which was enough to advance them to the crossovers. They were lined up against FHS in the semi-finals where they came out on top with a 3-2 win. This win sent them to the finals against St. Macs (a team whom they tied 4-4 in round robin play). The final game was very intense with lots of people cheering the Hounds on! St. Macs was the first team to score to make it 1-0, but Caroline Delaney tied it up in the middle of the first. The second period is where SJHS dominated. They scored 4 straight goals, included 2 more from Delaney - giving her her second hat trick of the tournament. The other scorer for SJHS was Jillian Martin with a pair! This was enough to hold off St. Macs in the third. They won 5-2. The girls played awesome all weekend and the tournament MVP went to Caroline Delaney. SJHS is looking forward to seeing what this great group of girl will do this season!
