Girls Hockey team on Fire!!
by Kathleen Boyle - Wednesday, February 22, 2017
The Saint John High Schools girls’ hockey team kicked off their season on a high notes (in October) and they haven’t looked back since! With only having 2 lines for the majority of the season, these young ladies have shown the league what dedication and hard work can do. In 15 regular season games, they have a record of 12-2-1.
The girl’s success has come from them created a number of scoring opportunities during their gritty matches this season. They have earned their wins through aggressive fore checking, supported by a defensive core that has held the blue-line and limited their opponents to fewer scoring opportunities.
Rookie goalie Katie Shea has had an outstanding season in net, rounding out the entire team effort. This team has been noticed in the league this season…and they aren’t done yet – with playoffs starting next week!
Their coaches Bob Martin, Sheldon Estabrooks and Bruce Latham couldn’t be more proud of them. Lead by their Captain Caroline Delaney, the girls are going heading into playoff motivated, excited and ready to bring their ‘A’ game to whomever they play!
Saint John High School wishes the girls the best of luck in the upcoming weeks!
