Rugby tryouts under way

by Jeff Warr - Saturday, February 25, 2017

SJHS's Boys Rugby Program has officially begun its winter indoor training and identification sessions. It's a very exciting time to become part of Hounds Rugby. SJHS's Senior boys team has won consecutive AAA provincial rugby banners and the JV team is the reigning AAA provincial champion. The recent success has created more hype and expected growth for the program. The game itself is growing in popularity. Its physical, competitive and high-speed nature draws new athletes to the sport. With students coming from a wide range of sport backgrounds, rugby brings the best out of each player and enables them to apply their athletic abilities to a new and unfamiliar game. SJHS boys rugby has benefitted immensely from its Junior Varsity program since its inception in 2013, attracting more grade 9 and 10 students to the game. An additional 2 years of experience and training results in a more complete player by grade 12. For this reason, we would love to see an influx of new grade 9 and 10 players come out this year. If interested, please come out to the upcoming training sessions and/or see Mr. Warr or Mr. Graham to discuss. Feb 26 - 8:30 am - 10:30 (SJHS gym) Mar 3 - 3:30 - 4:45 (SJHS gym) Mar 12 - 9:00 am - 11:00 (SJHS gym)
