Student Council 2017-2018 Executive Election

by Zachery Lavigne - Student Council Secretary 2016-2017 - Saturday, May 6, 2017

We would like to congratulate the 2017-2018 Student Representative Council executive on being elected on Wednesday May 3rd, 2017. There was a week-long campaign at Saint John High School with numerous great races.

Next year's executive will be made up of the following students:

President - Benjamin Lohoar, Vice President - Connor Doiron, Secretary - Madison Bell, Treasurer - Siyum Mohiuddin, Grade 10 Vice President - Noah Easton, Grade 11 Vice President - Abigail Shiels

Finally, a Grade 9 Vice President will be elected in the fall of 2017 once the new students join the Saint John High School student body.

The student council at Saint John High School holds two meetings per week to plan and organize large special events such as the Haunted House and the Cabaret and is responsible for events such as the Grade 9 Orientation Day and Open House. Other roles of the council include the preparation of budgets to appropriately allocate funds, and on a broader note, assuring that the voices of all students are heard and listened to. The 2017-2018 council has a busy year with many responsibilities to look forward to. Serving on the student council executive is a difficult job at times, but is very rewarding.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for running for various positions, and we congratulate those who were elected. We encourage for all candidates to apply to be Committee Heads next year, as this are great school leadership positions.
