by Submitted Article - Sunday, November 19, 2017

Many of you will start driving pretty soon. And while driving brings freedom and fun, it is also a huge responsibility. Did you know that new drivers are twice as likely to be involved in a crash within their first two years of driving? Even if it is a minor crash, it can have physical, emotional and financial consequences. We want you to know about the importance of making smart driving choices. We were lucky to have John Westhaver here to share his story
and message of Road Safety with us.

For the next three weeks John will be traveling through the maritimes on the Zero Fatalities Tour. This is a tour he created last year, as he is on a personal mission to end the number of fatal vehicle crashes in Canada and the devastation it causes to the surviving families. John has won two awards for the work he does with schools and communities. In 2012, he received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal and this Spring he was awarded the Coast Mental Health - Courage to Come Back Award.
