The Saint John High School Concert Choir, Men's Chorus and Girl's Choir presented a beautiful concert last week freely without restrictions after two and a half years! The concert was held at the lovely St Rose Worship Site where the students received a warm welcome once again. The students opened the concert in procession while singing Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World accompanied on ukulele by Kathryn Salvador. Further performances included Oceans, a choir favorite accompanied by Malcolm Boyd, cello, Lauren Dysart, violin and Valerie Bi, piano and solo by Izzy Paterson. The Men's Chorus sang sea shanties and a medley of songs from the musical Hamilton with a solo from William Cooke. The girls choir sang the famous flower duet from the Opera Lakme, Lift Thine Eyes, Flight and The Fox accompanied by Malcolm Boyd on the mandolin. Hounds Music Award recipient, Valerie Bi, played a beautiful piano etude. The 2022 Musicians of the Year Lauren Dysart, violin and Yoon Kim, piano shared a special duet called Cinema Paradiso. The La La Land Medley was performed on cello by Malcolm Boyd, Performing Arts Trophy winner and accompanied by Yoon Kim, piano.

Ms Gallagher and the choir honored retiree Ms Maureen Desmond with a special song "Be a Light" and a speech to thank her for her many years of support behind the scenes. Twenty -three graduating choir members received a little special personalized gift made by Ms Tracy Parker and joined the choir for the last time singing The Battle of Jericho!

The choir of seventy singers warmed the hearts of everyone that evening with their gift of music. They have shown tremendous resilience and determination to keep the choral program thriving throughout this challenging time and the concert was a real treasure. Vita Vitalis!
