Today all students received a rapid test kit for the holidays. Students were called down by homeroom and were given a kit.
We are encouraging all students to take a test if they are intending to visit with elderly people, attend a function with greater numbers than their family or if they are not well.
Below are instructions for the kits in a variety of languages.

Hounds Hockey held a gift drive at their game last night against STM. It was a great success having the players and the spectators come together to gather gifts for others. The gifts will be wrapped and donated to members of our community. Go Hounds Go!

Did you know that SJHS was a UNESCO candidate school? As such, we strive to engage in education for sustainable development. This fall, Grade 9 French Immersion students selected an ecological issue that was important to them and took action! The results of their eco-action projects were innovative and impressive. Christian A. invented a doggy poop pouch with embedded seeds to promote the growth of plants that are beneficial for declining bee populations. Alex B. attacked Saint John's erosion problem by proposing the construction of star-shaped breakwaters using recyclable materials and cement. Some students engaged in community cleanups to address the pollution of our coastal waters, while others created posters, art exhibits and videos to advocate for environmental protection. Saint John High students are evidently becoming prepared to take action as responsible local and global citizens.

Keynan Harvey is a grade 12 student at SJHS. For 4 years, Keynan has been a force to be reckoned with, on the soccer field and the basketball court with our school's teams, and now his talents are being recognized beyond Saint John.
Keynan has been invited to a high performance soccer camp, the East Coast Combine this weekend, where only players of the highest calibre on the east coast have been invited to try out. This camp is "bringing together the best soccer players and coaches from the East Coast of Canada. Players will train with, learn from and play in front of University coaches & scouts." Keynan Harvey is one of them!!
We have heard plenty about Keynan's skills and abilities, so it was great to have the opportunity to chat with Keynan about his soccer
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I grew up in the uptown area of Saint John and attended Prince Charles for my elementary and Middle school years and now at Saint John High school. I am 17 years old and I have been around the sport of soccer for 11 years now. Soccer is my favourite thing to do in my past time.

When the Saint John High School football team lined with less than a minute to play, looking to take the lead in the 12-man AAA provincial championship game, Ben Coates, 16, wasn't expected to get the ball.
As people on the sidelines were yelling to get him the ball as he was wide open, the Greyhounds' quarterback threw a dime to Coates for the game-winning touchdown, clinching the championship.
The Greyhounds defeated Kennebecasis Valley High School 27-24 on Saturday in Moncton. This marks the first AAA title in football for any Saint John school in 58 years and the first title for the Greyhounds since their AA provincial win in 2003.
"I think it's going to be amazing for the school, I think it's going to be great for the city, " said Coates. "It's hard to put into words how excited me and my team and my coaching staff really are."
